YHVH is calling all His people to walk in HIS ways, and to live HIS teachings and instructions (Torah) in the same way that Yahshua (Jesus) did. (1Jn.2:6) Part of doing that is celebrating Sukkot! Our fellowship would like to extend a welcome to you and your family to join with us in celebrating and rejoicing in this amazing feast. If you are planning on joining with us in the feast, a small part in preparing is to read carefully the “Things You Need To Know” section of this site along with filling out the registration form completely! Shalom Aleichem Hope to see you there! THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW Registration: Registration is very important because we expect to be at full capacity. Because this celebration is taking place at a 10 acre residence, we do not have the ability to have a very large crowd and therefore must limit the registrations to 120 people. So it is important that you register early. Also, we do not want to turn anybody away because we are full and then have someone not show up after registering, so please do your very best to be there if you register! Registration Fee: We have really struggled with this. On one hand, this is a very expensive endeavor for our small fellowship. There is electricity, meeting tents, bathroom and shower facilities, the list goes on. On the other hand, we don’t want to turn anybody away by charging a large "registration" fee. (This is especially difficult for large families). We could say that if you are struggling with the fee just let us know, but right or wrong, people usually do not ask for help. We do feel like scripture has an answer to this however. Deuteronomy 16:13-17 13 "You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing floor and your wine vat; 14 and you shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your male and female servants and the Levite and the stranger and the orphan and the widow who are in your towns. 15 "Seven days you shall celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place which the LORD chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you shall be altogether joyful. 16 "Three times in a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses, at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and at the Feast of Weeks and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. 17 "Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you. NAS. ALLTHAT to say: There will be no "registration" fee! There is however a small but mandatory T-shirt and cup fee. This will serve to save your place at camp and help us know who is serious about coming, give you a momento of your time with us, and help cut down on the endless trash of styrofoam cups. Please bring, (or give in the "Online Store"), a gift of money (this is over and above the t-shirt fee) in accordance with the scripture above and I know YHVH will bless us with a fantastic celebration. . Arrival & Departure Times: Arrival time for sukkot is at noon on Sept. 23rd and departure will be sometime after breakfast on Oct. 3rd. We are allowing a longer period than the normal Sukkot duration due to when the Shabbats fall and we certainly understand that most will not want to set up and tear down on Shabbat. Dinner will be around 6:00 the first night. T-shirts: You will be able to purchase a t-shirt toward the end of this registration for $20.00 per person. This will also come with a personalized cup with your name and Sukkot 2010 logo on it. This is a mandatory "deposit" for each person who will be in attendance that will save your place at camp and help us save the cost of so many Styrofoam cups being used. We have not yet finalized the logo on the shirts. All T-shirts will be 100% cotton. The sweatshirts are a cotton/polyester blend. If you prefer a sweatshirt, the cost is $30.00. Meals: We eat three meals a day together as a community. The menus will be planned ahead of time so we can purchase the food and make the whole process as streamlined as possible. If you are a vegetarian, don't worry, we always have a lot of salad and fruit available and will plan the main dishes with options as well. If your dietary needs go beyond that (ie. Vegan, strictly Kosher (we will serve "biblically clean food", not neccessarily Rabbinic Kosher) you might want to bring some of your own food. Keep in mind that our refrigeration capacity is very limited so you should also plan on bringing some type of cooler. There is a country market that sells ice about a half a mile away. Also, plan on having some "kitchen duty". Actually it's not that bad, in fact it's a great time to get to know some of the others. Once we get all the registrations in we divy up the cooking between families, groups, youth, etc. One more thing that you should take into consideration is: The cost for the food will be handled in the same way as the “Registration Fee.” Each family or individual should give according to how YHVH has blessed them, and by the number of mouths that have eaten, multiplied by the number of meals you have enjoyed. Some folks stay the whole week and calculate the cost at the end, others can only stay for a few days and therefore can adjust based on their own grazing habits. Pets: We strongly encourage you to make other arrangements for them at home, but if that is not possible, there are a few simple rules. All pets must remain on a leash at all times when not in your tent or trailer. You may bring a small “dog run” to keep them penned in if you would like. They are not allowed in the common areas at any time. (Meeting tent, kitchen or eating area). There will be a designated area for “potty walks”. Hotels: If you do not plan on camping with us, there is a nice hotel only 10 min. from our site. Here is the information you will need to make a reservation with them. Best Western Americana Inn www.bestwesterncalifornia.com 1450 S Alta Ave Dinuba, CA 93618-3802 (559) 595-8401 375 S. ALTA AVE DINUBA, CA 93618 UNITED STATES Hotel Front Desk: 559-595-1500 | Hotel Fax: 559-595-1515 RV's We should have no problem finding a place for you to park your RV. Our parking area is not fancy, but you are welcome to bring your RV. Our hook-ups are limited. Some parking spots will have electricity however we ask that you do not use your A/C as that would overload our system. I am sure we could keep your fresh water tanks full, but you probably would not be able to have full-time hook-up to water. Dumping - Unfortunately the only way to dump your black water tank would be for you to move your RV to my dumping station about 100yards from where we will be camping. Some spots will have the ability to dump their gray water where they are parked, but please check with someone first. Showers: There are showers available (only two), so be prepared to take super short showers to conserve water going into our septic system. Laundry: There are a couple of Laundromats available only a few minutes away from camp. What to Bring: Tent, RV, materials to build a Sukkah, sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, flashlights, Bibles, notebooks, pens/pencils, games, toiletries, towels, washcloths, snacks, insect repellent, suntan lotion, LAWN CHAIRS, folding tables (if you have them it would help). Other Needs: If you are a person who is gifted with working with children, there is always a big need for activities (crafts, games, etc.) for them. The same applies with the youth. We always have a great time with skits and family fun, so if you have any ideas please let us know. It is always so wonderful to see people pitching in with all kinds of talents. to let us know in advance what you have so we can try to work it in on the schedule. One of the great things about our Sukkot celebration is seeing people come, bringing what they have to offer, and not just sitting back wanting to be “entertained”. Questions? Laura Goble is taking care of our registrations and questions this year, (THANK YOU LAURA!), so if you still have questions after carefully reading the above information just email her, or give her a call: 661-266-3952
